Heather Plum is living out her dream. As a respected salon industry leader, Heather Plum, owner of Reflections Of You Salon & Spa, is outspoken on creating very personalized beautycare services for each of her clients. Plum began her career in high school when she first decided to become a hair designer. She has now achieved many of her dreams with a true success story for more than nineteen years.

Plum’s first work experience was in a summer position at a Hair Company Salon. Plum’s love of their staff, clients, artistic hair design and her passion for creativity brought her to enroll in cosmetology school. While attending beauty school, Plum completed her required salon credit hours at Heidi’s Salon at Fair Oaks Mall. This initial experience gave her the self-confidence and personal drive to become a very successful hair designer. Striving to be the best and to be a leader were her goals from early on. After leaving Hair Company, Plum continued to pursue her career at an independent upscale salon in Fairfax, Virginia. Here, she had to build her own clientele from scratch. She had to rely on them to send her new referrals. Plum notes, "My true goal as a hairstylist is to make everyone who sits in my chair look and feel the very best that they can. I sincerely want every client to feel really great about themselves and to look absolutely terrific! With their personal input, guidelines and a well-communicated discussion of their options during each of our consultations, I always give them direction on how to create and maintain their unique hairstyle in between salon visits."

Plum’s vision was always to own her own salon and spa. She wanted a place that used the best state-of-the-art equipment and products available on today’s market to suit her clients’ needs. She also wanted to offer top of the line services. "I wanted a place where everyone worked as a team and truly worked together for the benefit of our clients."

Plum discovered and revitalized her true passion for hair design at Reflections Of You Salon & Spa that began over nineteen years ago as a shampoo girl at Hair Company. While working at this salon, she has encouraged herself as an owner and a hair designer to provide a relaxing and comfortable environment for their clients. Plum notes, "I am not only a hairstylist, but a friend. I personally strive to be a good listener and to remain very professional. I try to stay up-to-date on all of the most current hair and fashion trends. I will listen to your desires and needs to give you an honest answer with solutions for your beautycare needs and challenges. We only offer the very best professional products available today with shared knowledge to maintain these looks, so that it perfectly fits each client’s lifestyle." Plum has very strong values and ideas of how a successful business should be managed. She expects her staff to look and act in a professional manner and to constantly give exceptional quality customer service. Plum also feels that continuing education is a constant venture for her and her staff, since this profession is always changing each year and with each new season. She not only encourages her staff to attend advanced educational sessions, she just recently completed and received her Hair Extension Certification from So.Cap USA. She remains known as a top haircolorist and image consultant. Heather is a master certified schwartkopf colorist. Passion International Stylebooks recently honored Plum. She was invited to participate in an exclusive photography session, with other top haircolorists from across the United States.

Plum’s grandmother has been a considerable influence in her life and career. Plum notes, "She was a very outspoken and truly wild woman -- way ahead of her time. She taught me to believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and have the strong desire to achieve each of your goals. Plum continues, "Surrounding yourself with other talented people that have confidence in you, helps you stay ahead. I don’t believe a person can fail. They can only quit. I have never quit anything."

As a very progressive salon and spa owner, Plum works very closely with her staff, while she mentors each of them in many different ways. She admires people that do things for the benefit of other people, not just for what they will get out of it but for the difference they make in someone else’s life. As a result, she constantly participates in community events and charitable programs. She holds educational seminars for her clients as well as for the local community. Plum is recognized as an important trendsetter for fashion and style in the Fairfax, Virginia area as well as throughout the professional beauty industry.
